The walk-in closet

In the past, the walk-in closet was a prerogative  only of very large and luxurious homes,  while today, thanks to the wide choice  of modern and versatile solutions, these large containers are within everyone’s reach, if well designed.

Design a walk-in closetit means creating an environment that reflects the needs of the home and, in particular, of those who live there. For this reason there are some steps, few but fundamental, which should never be overlooked.

Shapes and sizes for an optimal walk-in wardrobe

To have a perfect walk-in closet,  you don’t need to have a large house.
A walk-in closet does not necessarily have to be in the bedroom: in fact, it can also be placed in the living room, in a closet or in a recess in the wall. In particularly large homes it is possible to dedicate a room entirely to the walk-in closet.

If there is a need to create a special space, this need can be satisfied through the use of plasterboard or curtains, capable of delineating the perimeter.
Some precautions can be taken in the case of a rectangular room: in it it will be possible to evaluate the possibility of occupying an entire wall, perhaps with the back of the bed or behind the sofa if it is a living room.

Normally the measurements required for a walk-in wardrobe .they start from at least 130 cm deep and 200 wide. If the choice falls on a corner arrangement, the minimum recommended sizeis 250 cm per side.  In height it is always better to abound.
If the room is really large you could also consider an L-shaped layout. It is important to remember during the design phase,who is it intended for cabin Wardrobe: If it’s a man, you’ll probably need a specific area for your pants. If it is a woman, you will have to take into account that some compartments will accommodate clothes, probably even long ones.

Light and visibility of the wardrobe

A walk-in closet often occupies niches or hidden spaces in the house.
Although the best solution is to have a small window that allows natural lighting, not all spaces  can   be equipped.
Per questo motivo è comunque consigliabile tener conto anche di una buona illuminazione interna artificiale.
Providing the possibility of inserting   integrated lighting could be an excellent idea, as it would give a perfect view of clothes and accessories.

The unmissable interiors

Absolutely essential for a walk-in closet  are:

  • The  coat hangers: the form in charge must be designed based on the type of clothing you want to store. A 150 cm module can contain both dresses and coats and jackets and shirts. A double rod system is useful for arranging dresses, shirts and blouses in the upper part, while in the lower part you will opt for skirts and trousers;
  • The  trouser rack, possibly with removable bars or foldable basket;
  • The shoe rack can have doors, compartments or inclined shelves;
  • Drawers, preferably retractable as they can be stored in the chest of drawers and will also help to keep things in order;
  • Complements: accessories also have their importance. It would therefore be advisable to consider the possibility of including an area to store bags, ties, hats and bijoux. Hooks, shelves and shelves can satisfy this type of need.

Closing the walk-in closet

It is also important to pay attention to the methods of closing the walk-in closet.
If you have a spacious environment,  you can  consider the hinged door, whose convenience lies in the fact that it does not require particular attention.

If the space starts to narrow  the options to use  will be the following:

  • Folding doors, which however require two floor guides;
  • Sliding doors, the most functional solution for small rooms, remember however that these usually move on both ground and suspended tracks.
  • Open doors, based on the furniture in which it is located, the idea of not closing the walk-in is also interesting, thus allowing you to have the entire wardrobe under control and within sight.

One  way to make this useful wardrobe even more enjoyable is to complete itwith the necessary complements.  The floor can be covered with acarpet, if there is space the insertion of a table or in any case a support on which to place the chosen clothes can be very convenient.  Amirror, possibly capable of framing the entire figure is essential.

Over time, however, habits change and needs change:  the advantage  of having a perfect walk-in closet lies in the fact that it is possible to insert or modify the modules according to the needs of the person  who uses it.

If well studied,  it remains an excellent solution for all those spaces in the house that would otherwise have remained unused.
Thanks to their versatility, modular walk-in wardrobes  they now represent the perfect alternative for those with little space as the compositions are fully customizable.
