Curtains yes, curtains no?
To put curtains or not, and which model? Today we offer you a series of advice from architects. Choosing the type and fabric can be difficult, but with some reflection you will be able to navigate this world.
We start from the assumption that the textile complement should normally be aligned with the style of the environments. But it could also be in dissonance with the whole: the curtains perform the main function of regulating the brightness of an environment and protecting from external gazes, but they also stand out for their aesthetic presence. Transparency and insulation can be managed by choosing suitable fabrics and also by overlapping them, obtaining decorative and colorful effects.
Which colors to choose?
Speaking of colours, light curtains give harmony and airiness to the environment, while dark ones make it smaller. Having said that, let’s look at the models on the market: there may be Roman blinds, roller blinds, sliding panels on tracks, or rod blinds. There are precise rules for installation, fixing on the tracks and distance from the ceiling.
The awning must be measured in proportion to the window behind it: no sheets that are too narrow or too wide compared to the glass surfaces (so as not to diminish them and completely eliminate them). Even the length must be calibrated to the rest, if the mood is romantic, go ahead for fabrics that fall softly to the ground with spectacular trains, if the environment is modern instead, yes to geometric panels that simply skim the floor.
And you are always free at any time to add curtains later, if conditions or needs should have changed in the meantime.
